Reliable and various Pkw, the Volkswagen "Kübelwagen" Typ 82 use the mechanical base of the Kdf-Wagen (future VW Cox). Its lightness, the adoption of a differential locking, a inflated engine as well as greater ground clearance give this 4 x 2 near performance of a 4 x 4. About 55000 examples are manufacturing in the factories VW's Wolfsburg from 1940 to 1945 whose Ambi-Budd provides the bodyworks in corrugated sheets.

VW "Kubelwagen" Typ 82 of 1942 is restored in the colours of the Organization Todt (the name of its founder, this Organization of the Third Reich manages the achievements of civil and military engineering such as the weapons factories, submarine bases and fortifications, including the Atlantic Wall). This model still carries its original constructor plates that are shown below (private collection).
