An other production of this manufacturer for the Wehrmacht : this large model of cable roller "Feldfernkabel" carry 250 meters of telephone cable used by the transmission units"Nachrichtentruppen". Connecting multiple cables is possible over a distance of 50 kilometers. It can be increased up to a maximum of 120 kilometers by the use of intermediate cable connections amplifying the signal "Verstärkerspule" or "Pupinspule", from the name of his hungarish inventor : Mihajlo Pupin.

.

The "Feldfernkabel" has a compartment (on the top in the picture) where are stored both ends of the length of cable with their connector (Rene Letourneau collection).

The 70 kilos weight of the "Feldfernkabel" is a handicap for its handling as shown the grimacing faces of efforts of these "Landser" (Stephane Arquille collection).

.

The adoption of a operating carriage is necessitated for mobility. Named "Verlegewagen", it consists of a frame, an axis and two removable wheels and easily held the telephone cable dragging behind either. In addition, various functions allow :

- unlock and eject easily the "Feldfernkabel" by a cable system mounted on one of the handles,

- roll up or unroll the cable on the "Feldfernkabel", in a static position, once the frame standing on its sliding extensions, using the wheel fitted with its folding handle as a crank.

"Verlegewagen" in action towed by two "Landser", a third guiding the cable of the "Feldfernkabel" (César Sánchez collection - Spain).

The "Verlegewagen" and several "Feldfernkabel" are stored in trucks of the motorized transmission units "feldfernkabelwagen" and in the trailer "Anhänger (1 achs.) für Feldfernkabel (Sd. Ahn. 25)". A version of the famous "Kleine Kettenkrad (Sd. Kfz. 2/2)" fitted with a tubular frame fixed above the engine compartment allows transport and use of two"Feldfernkabel", two other can be carry in its trailer (Sd.Anh. 1).
